Heavens Missing Angel

By Stephen Alexander

It was a cold night in January
that I was sitting by the phone
when Heavens messenger told me
no longer will you be alone

I had no idea
that my life was incomplete
but all that changed
when this angel began to speak

she was just a child
so innocent and sincere
but as I listened
a beautiful woman appeared

I have often wondered
while gazing in her eyes
if the Heavens are aware
there's one less star in the sky

If the day should come
that she is called away
I will sacrifice it all
for the gift of one more day

Its still a mystery to me
why I was chosen for this life
to be blessed with the missing angel
that became my loving wife

The following poem was written by a friend for his niece and her brand-new husband. It can serve as a positive reminder to all of us about the hard work that goes into creating the true magic of Love.

Magic

By Jeffrey D. Patten

An individual.
  Another individual.
    A couple.
There are three of you in this together.
        Three.
          How does it all work?
            Perhaps there’s some
              magic?
( For us, there seemed to be. )

There is that strange romance
  beyond all understanding :
    Your partner speaks the words
      of your own secret soul
before you even form them for yourself.
          Or,
            as in a dream,
              aware that you alone
might grant your partner’s silent wish,
                  before you know you can,
                    you have!
(  Have you felt the spell?   Haven’t we all?  )

But, if this
  magic
    becomes your expectation,
      if you each presume
to live on your other’s behalf
( For this is what it would take! )
          and then
            feeling your effort is judged,
              judge in turn,
who is there left to be you?
                  And
                    what becomes of the magic?

Only you yourselves
  can truly know
    what matters deeply to you,
      day-to-day
        and through your life.
(  It’s who you are.  )
          So . . .
            Tell each other!
              Talk.
                Really talk.
                  It’s simple,
though it might not be so easy.

Trust     each     other.
  But,
    you must trust yourselves
      first.
        You can’t -
if you feel the need for control.
            Hold     nothing     back.
( You can’t make bargains   with yourself.  )

You will now have
  differences.
    This means that you’re
      alive!
       Respect each other for this.
         Engage each other’s differences.
           This is the hardest work.
             Don’t give up
               when it seems too hard.
                 It’s not -
if you decide it won’t be.
                     It is,
                       you’ll see,
                         the most rewarding work!
(  And don’t neglect agreements.   Celebrate them all!  )

The clear
  uncomplicated heart
    is free to love,
      and to be loved.
        Be free
          to live your lives
(  To the fullest depth and breadth  )
            in     each     other’s,
              through your time.

Now,
just let the magic happen when it will.

(   And     it     will!   )
